Citizenship
To qualify as a Young Citizen of the Year you will need to undertake
a good citizen activity for a local community cause. There are lots of things
you could do, such as:
• Volunteer at a St Ann’s Hospice or another local charity shop
• Contact your local Volunteer Bureau for nearby charity opportunities
• Get in touch with a charity of personal interest to you
• Contact your local council and get involved with some initiatives in
your neighbourhood. You might consider conducting a litter pick-up to tidy your
street.
• Ask your teacher for tasks that would help benefit the school. You could
mentor some of the younger students with reading or sports activities
• Consider ways to undertake tasks to benefit your local neighbourhood.
If you have any elderly neighbours, you could offer to help with their gardening
or do some shopping for them.
