It was the small things that made such a big difference. Being able to sit down and eat a meal together after a hectic time in hospital. Being able to sleep in my husband’s room. That removed a great deal of stress and anxiety. Small things that might not sound much, but when you have so little time, they’re invaluable.Judith Lacy

Two school friends are top of the class when it comes to charity fund raising efforts
Faye Cotterill and Kate Bennett, both aged 10, raised £71.50 by selling raffle tickets for chocolates and teddy bears to classmates at Etchells Primary School in Heald Green.

The proceeds were split between St Ann’s Hospice and Asda’s Tickled Pink breast cancer appeal.
Both families know first-hand the marvellous work carried out by St Ann’s.
“They were desperate to organise a raffle and did all the work themselves. We’re very proud of them,“ said Faye’s mum Pat and Kate’s mum Vicky.
“The hospice deserves every penny it gets and we think they’re brilliant down there.”
