  Jane was presented with a certificate by Dame Cecily Saunders (founder of the UK hospice movement) when she completed her nursing training. Now retired, Jane until recently continued to be involved in nursing teaching and examination work. She has been on the Board for over 10 years, sits on various committees including Clinical Governance and Audit Committees.

  Alan is an Associate Director of Tradition (UK) Ltd, a global leader in interdealer broking. Following the death of his Father in Heald Green, chartered accountant and chartered secretary Alan offered his help to St Ann’s and was appointed member of the Finance Committee and a Trustee in 1991. He was appointed Treasurer in 1994 and later became a Trustee of the St Ann’s Pension Fund and Chairman of the Trading Company.

  Anne has been involved in fundraising for St Ann’s Hospice since the very early days of the hospice. Anne’s commercial experience is in both the property and retail fields and therefore she sits as a Director of the St Ann’s Hospice Trading Company as well as a Trustee on the main hospice board.

His professional experience in finance and business led to his involvement on the St Ann’s Hospice Board supporting committees such as Finance & Remuneration, Audit and Investment Review as well as being the Chairman of the Pension Scheme Trustees.

  Christine relocated to the North West from Wales in January 2009 to join East Lancashire NHS Trust as Divisional General Manager and has 30 years experience working as a general manager/executive director and as a pharmacist in the NHS. Christine is Director of Operations at Airedale NHS Trust. She was formerly a Trustee at St Mary’s Hospice in Birmingham. For her 50th birthday she cycled from Lands End to John O’Groats for charity.

  Elaine Darbyshire is the Director of Communications and Corporate Affairs for NHS North of England. Prior to this, she was Director of Strategic Communications for NHS North West, the region’s Strategic Health Authority. Before joining the NHS, Elaine was the Director of Corporate Communications for Guardian Media Group’s regional division which was owner and publisher of over 50 newspapers, web sites and a local TV station.

  Mike was Chief Executive to South Manchester University Hospitals NHS Trust then undertook consultancy work on clinical governance for Bury Health Authority and the North West Regional Health Authority including an association with the Regional Cancer Team. He led a project, funded by Macmillan Cancer Relief to establish quality standards for cancer care in primary care and is now Director of the NHS Retirement Fellowship. Mike sits on the One Organisation Group and is a Director of the Trading Company. He is also Chair of the Clinical Governance Committee.
