Research and development

St Ann’s Hospice is proactively involved in research and development, focusing on initiatives aiming to improve the quality of care for all patients, carers and their families who access our services.

Key themes for research are:

  • Service evaluation
  • Referral and access to services (equality and diversity)
  • Pain and symptom control
  • Needs assessment

Strong external links are maintained with The University of Manchester’s Supportive and Palliative Care research team (within the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work).

St Ann’s staff also play a key role in the Greater Manchester and Cheshire Palliative Care Research Alliance, promoting the development of collaborative research across Manchester.

For further information on research at St Ann’s (including research governance enquiries), please contact Dr Dai Roberts, head of research and development on 0161 498 3617, e-mail droberts@sah.org.uk
