Pete’s Mount Everest challenge

Businessman Pete Gregory is looking for supporters to sponsor his climb in aid of St Ann’s to the base camp of Mount Everest in October. Pete, who is the proprietor of Miles More Tyres in Stockport, is hoping to raise £3,000 by his exhausting trek. Car raises over £37,000

Our annual car raffle raised £37,206. The winner of the Hyundai Getz worth £8,000 was Edith Saberton from Sale, and Terry Wright from Stockport won the runner-up prize of £500.

Former Manchester United players donated towards a £3,500 cheque presented to St Ann’s in memory of ‘Busby Babe’ John Doherty, who died at the Hospice in Heald Green last year.

Sale Sharks backing

Sale Sharks rugby team are backing
St Ann’s in a big way this year. An England rugby shirt donated by their fly-half Charlie Hodgson is one of the star prizes up for auction at our Rugby Sporting Dinner. Their ground will be the venue for our Balloon Race lift-off in September, and the Sharks will be staging a charity golf day in aid of the Hospice on July 28 at Mere Golf Club as part of their testimonial for veteran player Steve Hanley.

Sponsored climb

A six-week sponsored climb in the Himalayas will be undertaken in aid of St Ann’s in September by Kit Dickson, from Manchester accountants KPMG. He will be attempting to climb the sixth highest peak in the world known as Cho Oyu, with a summit of 8,201 metres, just 70km from Mount Everest.

Lottery - Win £2,000!

More than 16,000 people play the St Ann’s Hospice Lottery every week - raising nearly £493,000 in profit last year towards patient care. You can enter for only £1 a week for a chance to win one of 12 weekly prizes, including the £2,000 jackpot.
