A
heartfelt tribute goes to our patient Gerry Smith from Bowdon, who sadly died
at our Hospice in Heald Green in February.Gerry embarked courageously on a personal campaign in support of St Ann’s late last year, allowing cameras from BBC (delete TV Look) North West Tonight to record her experiences of living with cancer. She also showed how the Hospice helped her live as normal a life as possible in her work as a music teacher and at home with her family in the last stages of her illness.
Gerry succeeded in raising more than £10,000 in her appeal to provide
personalised bedside TVs for our Hospice patients, and despite her illness,
insisted on speaking about St Ann’s publicly at events like our Gala Ball
and Ladies Fashion Lunch. Our sincere condolences go out to her husband, her
three children and all her family and friends.
As a thank you for all that Gerry has done for St Ann’s, we are delighted
to announce that our Dazzling Diamonds Ball on Saturday October 11 at Mere Golf
and Country Club will be held in her memory. See back page for details.
