St
Ann’s secretary Karen Sawford found out what caring for our patients is
all about when she took advantage of an opportunity to ‘shadow’
two of our nursing auxiliaries at Heald Green over two days.St Ann’s has a job shadow policy which encourages staff to understand the roles of fellow colleagues at the Hospice. “I wanted to get involved as much as possible with what nursing is about,” said Karen. “I was impressed and moved most of all by the tender loving care our nurses give to our patients. It has given me an insight into how much work, time and love the nurses put into their jobs, and how much this actually means to the patients and their families. It was a very touching and moving few days that will always stay with me.”
Karen was fitted out with her regulation nurse’s uniform for the role
shadowing nursing auxiliaries Catherine Ward and Yvette Halsall on the ward.
