When anyone says to me that they couldn’t think of volunteering in a hospice, I reply – well don’t – try one of the charity shops instead, it’s not direct hands on but it is still helping the hospice.Ann Farthing, St Ann’s Hospice volunteer

How you can help
St Ann’s Hospice relies on the goodwill and hard work of nearly 800 volunteers.
We simply couldn’t run the Hospice without our volunteers. Whether you have a couple of hours a week to spare or a couple of days, every single bit of support makes a difference to our patients and their families.
These are some of the main areas that volunteers help us with:
- Ward ‘tea-trolley’ rounds
- Coffee shop
- Day care
- Driving
- Reception desk
- Flower arranging
- Bereavement support
- Gardening
- Fundraising
- Administration
- Charity shops
- Graphic design
- Maintenance
Of course if you have a specific skill not mentioned here that you would like to offer – we’d love to hear from you. For example are you a photographer, film-maker or internet genius?! You might be surprised what would help us out.
What we really need help with
There are always specific areas we urgently need volunteers for. We would appreciate you looking to see if you could help us with any of these. View our current volunteer needs here.
