New Conference - Back by popular demand!

Striking the Balance:
Quality of Care Versus Risk - the challenges of infection control in a palliative care environment

Wednesday 24th January 2007,
9am-4pm, St Ann's Hospice, Heald Green, Cheshire

"The goal of palliative care is achievement of the best possible quality of life for patients and their families." (WHO, 1996)

Yet infection control can compromise the quality of care delivered by palliative care facilities, by promoting isolation and reducing the focus on holistic care.

This conference poses the question: "How can we manage infection control for the protection of patients and staff whilst maintaining the principles of palliative care?"

The conference will include presentations on:

  • Developing an Infection Control service in a hospice setting
  • Link nursing: the link nurse experience
  • The role of infection prevention and control in a palliative care setting
  • cleanyourhands - National Patient Safety Agency
  • Be prepared! Emerging infections in palliative care
Outbreak management: who to contact and when; what to write and why
  • The role of infection control audits in providing excellent patient-focused care

Who should attend?
This conference is aimed at personnel within the hospice environment with managerial responsibility for infection control.

£80 per delegate (inclusive of lunch and refreshments) Early Bird Booking Discounts - £70 for bookings made before 15th June 2006
