Catenian’s support for Hospice

Charity fundraising by members of the North Cheshire Circle of the Catenian Association, an organisation for Catholic men, is helping to pay towards care for patients at St Ann’s Hospice and The Christie Hospital.

Their past President, Roger Da Forno from Hale Barns, said: “Our group, which meets to promote faith, family, friendship and fun, held a series of fundraising social events over the year, and we were delighted to present St Ann’s and Christies with a cheque for £1,300 each.”

Pub fun raises cash for Hospice

Lovers of live bands at the Lane Ends pub in Marple Bridge, near Stockport, have helped raise nearly £400 towards free care for patients at St Ann’s Hospice at Heald Green near Cheadle.

The pub’s manager, Gemma Smith, pictured handing over the cash to St Ann’s Fundraising Officer Louise Kelly, said: “We are lining up live bands and tribute acts on a regular basis from now on to raise funds for the Hospice.”

The licensee of the pub, Emma Jackson, selected St Ann’s to benefit from the live band nights following past association with the Hospice.

St Ann’s Fundraising Officer Louise Kelly said: “We are so grateful to Gemma and her customers for their generosity, as we are dependant on voluntary contributions like this to raise £16,000 a day needed to provide free care for our patients.”

The funds were raised at a Beatles tribute band night and at an Indie tribute night. The next live band act at the Lane Ends pub in aid of St Ann’s is on May 17, featuring The Classics Sixties tribute band

Tribute raises over £1,000 for Hospice

A tribute night in memory of machine operator Colin Mahaffy, from Longsight, raised more than £1,000 in aid of St Ann’s Hospice near Cheadle. The event at Longsight Sports and Social Club was organised by Colin’s three sisters Susan Halligan, Mandy Mahaffy and Lyn Larocca who manages the club. Mr Mahaffy died aged 55 at the Hospice earlier this year.
