Complementary Therapy
Complementary therapies are used extensively across all three hospice sites to help and support patients.
Helen Murphy, Complementary Therapy Co-ordinator at St Ann’s Hospice, explained that the therapy team is trained in a range of specialist techniques to assist with a variety of concerns such as fatigue, insomnia and anxiety.

“Everyone enjoys a relaxing massage but the complementary therapies we use at St Ann’s Hospice are all specialist clinical therapies developed to best assist our patients,“ explains Helen. Helen and some of the complementary therapy team recently met celebrity masseuse to the stars, Bongo Man, who works at the exclusive Sandy Lane resort in Barbados and has massaged, among others, Simon Cowell and Cindy Crawford. Bongo Man was in Manchester as a guest of entrepreneur Tony Ford who flew him over to help raise money for St Ann’s Hospice and other local charities. “He was a big hit with everyone at the hospice and was fascinated to learn about the range of clinical massages our team has developed,“ said Helen.
