Bramhall’s first Calendar Girls
The girls at Barard, the Bramhall hairdressers were the first to bare all for Bramhall’s very own Calendar Girls calendar!
After the last client left the salon, the doors were locked, and photographer Ian, helped by his Russian assistant, Tania, set up the lights whilst the girls got ready. The camera angle and positioning of the models and the props were worked out, whilst the girls kept on their bath robes.
Once the lighting and composition had been worked out, apart from jewellery and shoes, all seven took a deep breath and threw away every stitch, to recreate a typical everyday scene in the salon.

Kelly Lesurf and Suzy Brookes pictured third and second from the right (this is not the final picture!) were the main motivators of the group of workmates. The day after the shoot, Kelly said to Nigel Cuthbert of Cuthbert’s Hairdressers , “That was the best thing ever. I’d do it all again”. There will be another shoot happening soon, in Cuthberts, but the venues are not confined to hairdressing salons. Beluga, the bar cafe has reserved a “month”, as has the gift shop, Mosaic.
The calendar is being photographed by local photographer, Ian Cartwright of Caramel Photography. All the profits will go to St Ann’s Hospice for much needed funds to help them to keep providing care for people who are seriously ill.
