Staff Benefits

Training

This is provided through the Institute for Learning & Development, which is an exciting venture for St Ann's Hospice, bringing together education, research and development, clinical governance and practice development.

The underlying aim is to improve patient care by supporting and sharing new developments in palliative care.

We are extremely supportive of training needs for all staff and aim to accommodate staff requirements wherever possible.

Pensions

As a member of St Ann's Hospice staff, you have the option to join our Stakeholder Pension Scheme, or if you have previously been a member of the NHS Pension Scheme then you will have the option to remain in this scheme and the Hospice will pay the employers contributions.

The St Ann's Hospice Stakeholder Pension Scheme is a contributory scheme, with staff choosing their percentage of contribution. The Hospice will then match this contribution up to a maximum of 7%.

Holidays

The holiday year runs from 1st April to 31st March. All full time staff receive 35 days holiday for a full year's entitlement, this includes Bank Holidays. Part Time staff will receive holidays pro-rata to the number of days they work.

Nursing Ratios

Staffing ratios on the wards are generally higher than in the NHS. We aim to maintain a higher proportion of qualified staff. This ensures that staff have more time to interact with both patients, carers and their families, and are able to offer higher quality nursing care.

Staff Restaurants

We have a staff dining room at both Little Hulton and Heald Green where staff are offered a choice of quality of food, ranging from a three course meal to sandwiches. The food is of a very high quality and is sold at subsidised prices.
