"I can honestly say that I have found the support of St Ann’s absolutely invaluable over the course of the last three years and it is lovely to come here now as we know a lot of the staff very well. You can’t be reliant on them all of the time of course, but it’s great that you know that you can speak to people when you need to." Paula Wilson (pictured above with her son Tom), whose husband Paul died in St Ann’s in 2001, is a firm supporter of the Hospice and until January this year, still visited regularly to accompany her 12 year old son Tom to his bereavement counselling sessions with Social Worker Derrick Asquith

St Ann's Hospice has a strong focus on supporting the families and carers of patients with life-threatening illnesses.
In an effort to get a better understanding of what carers face each day, St Ann's Hospice asked a group of carers for their opinions around issues relating to being alongside someone with a life-threatening illness.
This user feedback has resulted in a Carer's Service, available at all three St Ann's sites. Any person who is caring for someone with a life-threatening illness, whether the patient is being treated at St Ann's or not, can refer themselves through the Day Therapy Units.
The carers can access information and advice, complementary therapies, social work advice, stress management or can simply have the opportunity to talk.
Contact us on 0161 437 8136 (Heald Green), 0161 702 8181 (Little Hulton) or 0161 291 2912 (Neil Cliffe Centre) for more information.
