Bramhall Art Society is celebrating its 50th Annual Exhibition this year.

June, who lives in Bramhall, is 90 in June and has spent a lifetime painting, starting her working life in an engineering drawing office. Her work, which includes landscapes and still life, in oils and watercolours, was on show at Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery in her retrospective exhibition last autumn.

More than 600 attended last year’s exhibition and the society plan to mark their  50th anniversary in style.  Cheshire Art Gallery in Bramhall Village will be sponsoring prizes for their favourite pictures. Around 140 framed paintings will be on display as well as another 200 unframed pictures, all of which are for sale.

We have 46 artists, with about 30 attending each Wednesday. We all work on our own projects, using oils, watercolours, pastels or acrylics.  It's a good social gathering and new members are always welcome, though we do have a short waiting list. Pam Malabon, Bramhall Art Society Chairman

Proceeds from refreshments, served from 10 am-4pm, during the forthcoming exhibition will be donated to St Ann’s Hospice.

Admission is free and the exhibition is open from 10am to 5pm on Friday, March 31, and Saturday April 1.  Harpist Alice Kirwan will entertain visitors from 11 am on the Saturday morning in the small hall.  The exhibition is from 10am to 5pm on Sunday, April 2.
