Will you be joining the Walker family for this year’s Manchester Midnight Walk?

St Ann’s flagship fundraising event is back, and this year there’s a new date and venue. The walk takes place on Friday 27^th April, beginning and ending at the iconic Manchester Cathedral.

Carrie Burke and Leah Walker will be taking part for the second time, in memory of their Dad, Mike, who was a patient at St Ann’s in 2016. They say: “A difficult time was made easier for all of us by the team at St Ann’s. There was such a warm feeling when we came in.  As a family, we were always made to feel so welcome and comfortable, and we were so well supported.

“St Ann’s offers much more than medical care. Dad had laughed and joked his whole life and in the hospice he could be himself again, and we could get back to being his daughters rather than his carers.

“We’ve done lots of fundraising for St Ann’s since Dad died. We’ve raised around £6,000 so far and want to carry on. Last year was the first time we’d taken part in the Manchester Midnight Walk. We did it with lots of our family and friends and it was good fun, and we’ll be there again this year. It’s our way of saying thank you for looking after our Dad.”

Eamonn O’Neal, Chief Executive of St Ann’s, said: “The walk is such an amazing event, and it’s incredible to see so many people joining together to raise money for our cause. Many walkers take part in memory of loved ones, whilst others join in simply for a night of fun and fundraising to help us raise the money we need to continue providing our services.”
