Staff member has hit the right notes for St Ann’s through her love of the saxophone

By News Team on June 19, 2018

Little did Jeanette Caddick know when she started playing the instrument seven years ago it would lead to a £1,000 donation to St Ann’s where she is Head of Finance.

Jeanette, from Bramhall, is a moderator of an online forum for saxophonists and the donation came from the website’s owner Pete Thomas.

The musician kindly donates all profits from direct sales from cafesaxophone.com and tamingthesaxophone.com to charities, or special needs educational establishments.

Pete’s company has donated £77,000 in total with Heaton School, in Stockport, also benefitting from his generosity.

He has a distinguished musical background, performing with artists such as Fats Domino and Joe Jackson. He writes music for film and television, including commercials, and works on projects with artists including Elton John, R.E.M. and Sir Cliff Richard.

I decided I needed a hobby and wanted to learn to play an instrument. I'm still rubbish but have had so much fun playing the saxophone and would recommend it to anyone. Joining the forum cafesaxophone.com  has allowed me to meet other musicians and we get together regularly. The donation from Pete is very generous as we rely heavily on fundraising to care for our patients. Jeanette Caddick, Head of Finance
We have around 5,000 members of our forum and it's nice to be able to help charities such as St Ann's Hospice. All profits from our two websites go to good causes and I'd like to thank everyone who has donated or bought something from our store. Pete Thomas
