Golf day goes swingingly well!

Our recent fundraising golf day was a success this year, raising more than £18,000 for St Ann's.

By News Team on July 16, 2019

The golf event, which is a staple on the St Ann’s annual fundraising calendar, was attended by seventeen teams, made up of players from across Greater Manchester.

Clare Henderson from the hospice fundraising team organised the event with volunteer ambassador Judith Lacy.

It was a great day, and we were fortunate that the weather was amazing. We had a real mix of teams taking part from all sorts of local businesses and other individuals and groups of supporters too. Some of those who came along have been supporting the golf day for many years, and others were first time entrants. Not only was it a fun day of golf, but it raised a fantastic amount in support of our patients and their families too. We’re so grateful to everyone who came along, and also to our headline sponsor Sunil Ruia, Trustee for the Bhim Ruia Foundation for his amazing support. We’d also like to thank our other sponsors Joe Dwek, Duerrs, JP Brimelow, Swizzels, Harold Stock and Co, and EMC (Knutsford) Limited, for their generosity. The team at Dunham Forest Golf and Country Club were also incredibly supportive, so huge thanks to them too. We simply couldn’t run events like this without local individuals and businesses helping us in so many different ways. We’re really grateful. This year the winning team was a group from Michael Morrison Consultancy Services, who were presented with a special trophy in honour of their achievement.

Having supported the hospice golf day over the last many years, it was particularly sweet to taste victory on this occasion thanks to some fine golf played by the team. The event was, as always, well organised and offered us a fun way of helping the wonderful efforts of all those who work and volunteer for the hospice in delivering loving care to its patients and their families. We’re looking forward to defending our title next year. Mike Morrison
