Celebration Tree unveiled at our Little Hulton hospice
The beautiful copper sculpture decorated with gold, silver and bronze leaves and birds was commissioned to help mark 40 years of specialist palliative care in Little Hulton.
The plaques are dedicated to someone special and can be engraved with their names. They may have been a patient, or have worked or volunteered at St Ann’s
The Ceremonial Mayor Cllr Charlie McIntyre joined families and friends of patients at the unveiling in the hospice reception on Wednesday, October 9, 2019.
Peter Tonge, District Secretary, attended the unveiling representing Salford Masons, who have generously funded the tree as part of their on-going support for the charity, meaning that all donations can directly benefit patient care. Also in attendance was last year’s Ceremonial Mayor of Salford Cllr Ronnie Wilson whose donation as part of the Community Chest grant from the Ceremonial Mayor of Salford’s Charity Appeal funded a bird plaque for the tree.
Michael was an inpatient at St Ann's which did a wonderful job. I feel in my comfort zone when I walk in here. Helen Molloy, Bought a leaf in memory of husband Michael who died of cancer in March.
This is a way of remembering my aunt and helping the hospice which couldn't do enough for her when she was a patient. The staff were fabulous. Gillian Allport (Niece of Ruby Thompson), The family of Ruby Thompson, from Astley, who died of cancer in April, have donated towards a plaque.
Hopefully the tree will blossom as more of our supporters celebrate the life of someone special. The tree also recognises the 40th anniversary of our Little Hulton hospice where we continue to provide care and support to local people when they need help most. Plaques remain on the tree for a year and donors can then renew their donation or take them home.
Leaves cost £50 minimum yearly, or £4.16 monthly, over a minimum 12-month period. Bird plaques are £500 annually or £41.66 if paid monthly.
