Avid gamer, Dylan Evans, 24 put his gaming skills to good use during lockdown, hosting gaming tournaments online, raising £1,310.28 for St Ann’s.

Dylan, from Timperley decided to support St Ann’s after his grandma Pat received care at our Heald Green Hospice by live streaming three gaming events on Deesports, Instagram, YouTube and Twitch.

He said:

My grandma was so happy there and she always use to say ‘do what makes you happy,’ and with lockdown I had the time to do that. I’m really happy to be building a friendly community which is still growing and I hope to continue to try and support St Ann’s where I can in these difficult times. Dylan Evans, Supporter

St Ann’s has always been close to Dylan’s heart and he fondly remembers visiting his grandma in the hospice. When lockdown struck it was the perfect time of Dylan to turn his passion for gaming into something more.

He went on to say:

Setting up a gaming tournament was a really big thing for me. I’ve taken part in charity events but I’ve never set anything up myself. I’ve had a passion for gaming since I was a child and I wanted to start live streaming but it was a big jump out of my comfort zone and I wasn’t sure if anyone would even watch, but they did and slowly over lockdown I’ve built up a great community and raised an amazing amount for a charity close to my heart. Alongside raising funds for St Ann’s with live stream gaming tournaments, Dylan has raised money for the Royal British Legion.

Rachel McMillan, Chief Executive of the hospice, said:

It’s so great to see the different ways people have chosen to support our patients during the pandemic, and we’re incredibly grateful to Dylan and the members of his gaming community who supported his fundraising efforts too. The money raised will make a real difference, and allows us to care for even more people who need it, just like we were privileged to do for his grandma Pat. Thanks so much Dylan for all of your support. Rachel McMillan, Chief Executive
