We have been in partnership with JustHelping, who are a Manchester-based charity who facilitate a national Christmas Tree Collection across England and North Wales.

The long-awaited total of the money raised from the collections at the start of the year has been announced, with St Ann’s Hospice raising £56,771.09 from the collection!

The collections that JustHelping run every year is completed by community volunteers, sponsors and donors and has been running for nine years.

The tree collections were made possible through Amazon vans that were given to the team on loan to be used to collect the Christmas trees, #TogetherWithAmazon.

This year, we added 14 new postcode areas we could collect from in Salford, Trafford, Manchester and Stockport.

The Christmas trees were shredded into chippings at their destinations, Wythenshawe Park and Wardley Hall, which have been used on site for flower beds and pathways.

Our Fundraising Manager Lucy Leeming says: “We’re delighted to have raised so much money from our collections this year. By collecting Christmas trees from more postcodes we were able to recycle even more trees than before, and this has made such a difference to the amount raised!”

We are absolutely thrilled with the success of the 2023 Christmas Tree Collection. This year we had a 50% increase in the trees collected and recycled and are delighted to have been able to raise £56,771.09 for St Ann’s Hospice. Tom Laverty, Development Manager at JustHelping

“We’ve raised a further £6,307.90 for fourteen other local charities and community groups across Greater Manchester. Thank you to all of the volunteers who supported the project through its entirety- without you none of this would be possible!”
