The Neil Cliffe Centre was first opened in 1992 thanks to the incredible fundraising efforts of Neil Cliffe. Following his cancer diagnosis, he was determined to create somewhere for patients living with the disease to find expert care and support.

Thanks to his dedication and championing of the cause, £1 million was raised and the centre was opened.

It was adopted by St Ann’s Hospice for many years but is now part of Wythenshawe Hospital, with St Ann’s Hospice still involved with one stop clinics and other community outreach projects.

The reopening of the centre was a wonderful opportunity for Wythenshawe Hospital to welcome Neil’s widow Joan and his daughter Jacqui back to the centre. It was a particularly poignant day as it was also on Neil’s birthday.

Rachel McMillan, Chief Executive at St Ann’s Hospice, Anne-Marie Wynne, Head of Fundraising and Capital Appeal and Amanda Connors, Being You Centre Team Leader, were all delighted to be invited to share the day with Neil’s family and the team at the centre.

Rachel McMillan said: “Neil was an Honorary Vice President of St Ann’s Hospice and a wonderful ambassador for many years. His fundraising efforts for the Neil Cliffe Centre were extraordinary and it is wonderful to be able to celebrate this reopening with his family and all the team at the Centre. We are so pleased that St Ann’s Hospice is still able to be involved in the clinics at the centre.”
