St Ann’s Hospice becomes a film location for the day
We were delighted to welcome students from the University of Salford BA (Hons) Film Production degree to our Little Hulton hospice.

The students transformed an unused room on the inpatient unit into the set for their sci-fi short film – Transparency.
The film centres around the rebuilding of a father-son relationship in a world where people disappear if they complete their life’s purpose. The scenes filmed at the hospice looked at the relationship between the father and son in the final days of the father’s life.
The film crew made a generous donation to St Ann’s Hospice as a thank you for being able to use an authentic film location for the hospital scenes.
Erin Pennington, one of the students making the film, said: “It was really important to us that our film used locations that looked realistic. The hospice was the ideal location for us, and we were really pleased the team at St Ann’s were able to help.
“It was great that they could provide a fantastic unused room at Little Hulton to help us make our film a reality and make it the best possible version it can be. We have made a donation to the hospice as a thank you and it is great to be able to support the fantastic service they provide.”
Gemma Peers, Head of Marketing and Communications at the hospice, said: “It was a pleasure to welcome the team onto site and to be able to help them with their final year project.
“When the team approached us to see if there was an option to use the hospice as a filming location for their film, we were impressed by their ingenuity. We have a room at our Little Hulton site that is kitted out as a patient bedroom but is currently used for meetings.
“With a bit of rescheduling and dressing the room with a bed and chair, we were able to make the room available to the crew.
“We are always looking for new and innovative ways to fundraise for our hospice. We rely heavily on donations from the public to keep our doors open and so for us this filming was a win/win situation.
“Everyone at St Ann’s is looking forward to seeing the final film and wish the team lots of luck in their final degree results.”
