The St Ann’s 100km in March challenge has raised over £6,000 for the hospice.

The challenge has been a great way of encouraging supporters to get out and keep active while raising funds for St Ann’s.

The hospice challenged its supporters to do 100km their way by either walking, running, swimming, or cycling, whatever way they preferred.

As part of this challenge, a Facebook group was set up which has over 230 members.

Tracy Jones took part in the 100km in March challenge. Her husband, was cared for by St Ann’s Hospice last year and sadly died in last June.

I just felt that I wanted to give back for the wonderful care and treatment that we both had while he was in the hospice in Little Hulton,” she said.

I also felt that after he died, I lost my sense of purpose. For the five months he was ill, my purpose was to look after him, and then I had nothing left. I’m a mum and a nan but I think it’s difficult when you lose your spouse. Tracy Jones, 100km in March Participant

“So this challenge, number one, I was giving back to the hospice, and number two, I had a purpose again,” she added.

Innovation and Digital Fundraiser for St Ann’s Hospice, Marie Foster commented.

“It was wonderful to see the engagement in the group from people of all walks of life, getting out and undertaking a challenge like this.

“I want to thank all of our supporters who took part in the challenge, those that helped us fundraise and those who simply spread awareness of all that we do with St Ann’s Hospice by completing this challenge.

“I look forward to our next active challenge where we will hopefully see some familiar faces return,” Marie said.
