New Year’s Day Swim 2024

Do you enjoy open water swimming? Want to start 2024 with a splash?

We have teamed up with Uswim who are running their long established (13 years and counting!) New Year’s Day swim on Monday 1st January 2024 at  Dock 9, MediaCityUK, Salford Quays.

Celebrate the start of a new year with family, friends and fellow cold water lovers! The invigorating water temperature will be 7c! The uber-friendly crowd and iconic Lowry Theatre backdrop guarantees top pics and crazy fun.

Will you be brave and bold and withstand the cold to take part in this year’s NYD’24 swim and get sponsored for St Ann’s Hospice?

Once you’ve signed up with Uswim you can set up your JustGiving fundraising page to support St Ann’s here.

If you have any questions about the event, please get in touch by emailing events@sah.org.uk or calling us on 0161 498 3631.

Don’t worry we won’t leave you out in the cold – our friendly events team will be on hand to help you all the way!

You can find out more information about the swim and book your place below.

Entry*

Adults (16+) £25.00

Young People (7-15yrs) £5.00

Swim Courses

There’ll be a 250m towfloat-compulsory course for competent swimmers who are then able to swim for as long as they safely want.

There is also a 100m non-towfloat course for swimmers who still want the buzz of a deliciously cold open water swim. Towfloats are still recommended though 🙂

Swim Timings

There will be TWO ‘waves’ of swimmers entering the water at 30 minute intervals based upon surnames.

Registration

10.15-11.15 am.

‘Wave’ Swim Times (based on surnames)*

1) A-H – 11.00am

2) I-Z –  11.30am

All swimmers to have left the water by 12pm.

*If attending with friends/family with different surnames its 100% cool if you simply swim together. No need to email regarding this, just turn up and let Uswim know on the day.

Frequently asked questions

  • What is the 100km in August Challenge all about?

100km in August is a fundraising challenge for St Ann’s Hospice. Join hundreds of incredible St Ann’s Hospice supporters in taking on 100 Kilometres in the month of August. The important thing is to get out and get moving to raise funds for those who need us most.

  • How do I get started?

The first thing to do is join our Facebook Group.  Click Join Now to register, get your free t shirt, meet other amazing fundraisers and get loads of tips and ideas for your challenge.

  • Do I have to be on Facebook to take part?

You can still take part if you aren’t on Facebook by registering with this link and then setting up a JustGiving page. However if you are on Facebook, it really helps us if you fundraise through that platform. We’re a small team and using the platform helps us provide you with more support and it helps us streamline our admin.

  • Do I have to use Facebook Fundraising or can I set-up a JustGiving page?

As the challenge is being run through Facebook we would prefer all participants to fundraise through the Facebook fundraising pages provided as it helps us to easily monitor the event and to minimise costs. However, if you prefer to use JustGiving, please register for the challenge using this link.

  • Can I be sponsored by someone who is not on Facebook?

If someone would like to donate to your challenge and they don’t have Facebook the best thing is to collect their donation offline and then donate it directly to your fundraiser yourself.  We will also provide paper sponsorship forms when we send out your t-shirt, so that is another option.

  • Can I include my normal daily steps as part of my distance?

Yes! We are happy for you to make the challenge personal to you, so if it makes sense for you to include those steps, we are happy for you to do so.

  • How should I track my kilometres?
