Ted Chatt, 75, was treated at the Neil Cliffe Centre after being diagnosed with prostate cancer, here he shares his story and experience of St Ann’s.
The staff at St Ann’s Hospice have taught me how to live through some bad times, and thanks to them I’ve lived a full life since my diagnosis, despite the prediction I would only live 2 to 5 years.
I’ve lived 12 more years in which time I’ve been able to enjoy spending time with family and going on holidays in Italy. There’s no doubt that St Ann’s have kept me going and also supported my wife, Norma, as it’s just as important that she also gets care and support so that we can both live our lives to the full.
From the moment I walked into the Neil Cliffe Centre – and I have to admit I was in a bit of a daze when I did – I was greeted with a warm smile and reassuring arms, and immediately felt that support was there to help live my life. From complementary therapies to counselling they’ve ensured that I’ve been treated as a whole person throughout.
