St Ann’s Hospice is seeking an expert administrator in the field of HR with experience of leading teams to lead, manage and support our HR administration team of two and support our mission of providing exceptional, end-of-life care to our patients and their families. 

It’s an exciting time to be part of the team as we begin a digital transformation journey incorporating the implementation of a new HR system. There’ll be significant opportunity to be involved and develop or build on existing skills and experience in this area. 

The role is for a 12month fixed term to cover maternity leave and you can expect a rough split of 30% leading and managing the team and 70% ‘hands-on’ supporting the with the work itself. 

Job Overview
As the HR Administration Team Leader, you will oversee our HR administration team, ensuring smooth and effective HR operations.  

This role combines leadership, and a keen eye for detail as you collaborate with hospice managers to ensure accurate and timely delivery of key HR processes across the full employee lifecycle : 

  • Recruitment 
  • Onboarding 
  • Training 
  • Contract changes 
  • Leavers 

Responsibilities 

  • Leading and managing the HR administration team; 121 meetings, performance management and development, absence management and all employee relations matters 
  • HR administration including recruitment, onboarding, training processes  
  • Preparing and issuing offer letters and contracts 
  • Carrying out pre-employment background checks – DBS, Right to work, reference checks 
  • Collating payroll information 
  • Administrating of MAT, PAT, Adoption and Shared Parental leave processes 
  • Coordinating the leavers process 
  • Reporting on status of training and learning activities 
  • Maintaining confidential employee records  
  • Overseeing the administration of hospice wide training activities 
  • Coordinating the administration of student placements 

Experience and skills 

  • A good standard of general education to a minimum of GCSE grade C / 4 – A* / 9 (or equivalent ) 
  • NVQ 3 in Business administration (or equivalent experience) 
  • Experience of HR, including recruitment & onboarding, training administration processes in any industry 
  • Leading and managing a small team of direct reports 
  • Handling data, producing reports 
  • Handling confidential and sensitive information 
  • Computer skills – Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, OneDrive, Teams, Sharepoint), HR systems (Ciphr would be an advantage) 
  • The ability to travel independently to both St Ann’s Hospice sites (Heald Green 4 days and Little Hulton 1 day per week) 

Contract: This position will be a 12-month fixed term position, starting January 2025

Salary: Band 4 £26,541per annum, Competency Based Framework

Working pattern: 37.5 hours per week over 5 days (Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm)

Based at: Heald Green, with one day a week at Little Hulton

People Business Partner

You will be joining at an exciting time as we progress with our new organisational strategy and plans for our new hospice site. The role will partner with line managers to support them to lead and develop their teams whilst ensuring their wellbeing and engagement.

Education & Development Manager

You will be joining at an exciting time as we progress with plans for our new hospice site with a dedicated Education and Research Centre. If you are looking for a new challenge, where you will be inspired and empowered in supporting us to achieve our ambitious strategy we would love to hear from you.

Have you got what it takes?

  • Do you have a background in Education & Development with excellent facilitation skills and the ability to motivate and inspire?
  • Do you hold a Learning & Development qualification (CIPD or similar) at Level 7 or have equivalent experience?
  • Do you have experience of leading Education & Development interventions, in line with organisation strategy?
  • Are you adaptable and agile in your approach, with the ability to ‘make things happen’

Salary: £44,473- £50,056, Competency Based Framework
