Swinton Police Cup raises money for St Ann’s
Soccer-mad youngsters were on the ball raising £1,300 for St Ann’s Hospice from the Swinton Police Community Cup.

Around 330 players representing 35 teams took part in a marathon 82 matches during a day-long feast of football at Swinton FC, Barton Road.
Police officers from Swinton staged the tournament as part of GMP Salford Division’s support for the charity and to improve engagement with the community. The event raised £980 plus £320 generously donated by teams.
Players from Swinton and Salford competed in under 7 to under 10 categories with the host club Swinton FC lifting the under 9s prize. Parkwyddn, from Eccles, were under 7s winners with De La Salle collecting the under 8s and under 10s trophies.
It was a terrific day and we’d like to thank everyone for taking part. It was a great community event for such a wonderful cause. We’d also like to thank Swinton FC for letting us use their venue and their superb organisation. It wouldn’t have happened without their tremendous support. PCSO Darren Betts, one of the organisers
