Recruiters raise £21,000 for St Ann’s Hospice at Manchester ball

The Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo) held its 2018 annual Charity Ball in aid of St Ann’s Hospice on Thursday 7th June at the Hilton Hotel in Manchester. The event was generously sponsored by Knightsbridge Contractor Insurance.

The night raised over £21,000 for St Ann’s as APSCo’s chosen charity, which will have a significant impact on the support that we are able to offer to the patients with life-limiting illnesses they care for.

Throughout the night guests were treated to some classic Hawaiian entertainment, an impressive limbo competition, a surfboard simulator and outstanding karaoke for the sell-out event, with all attendees leaving in high spirits.

Guests generously donated through pledge forms, a live auction and a champagne raffle to win a high-value diamond necklace. APSCo Chief Executive Ann Swain’s husband scooped up the prize which he ceremoniously put back in the draw for another guest to win.

I’d like to thank everybody who attended this year’s Charity Ball and made the event the huge success it was. Everyone who attended had a fantastic fun-filled evening in aid of a very worthy cause. The APSCo Annual Charity Ball is not only the jewel in the crown of our event calendar, but also a chance to really make a difference to those who need our support. With over 300 guests, the decision to host this year’s event in Manchester proved a great success and this also shows the increasingly regional nature of our events programme. Once again, the recruitment sector has exceeded all expectations in raising a huge amount for St Ann’s which needs to generate £20,000 a day to keep going, and APSCo members should be proud of their generous contributions. Thank you to all the sponsors, guests and supporters who made this year’s Ball such a wonderful evening, and in the spirit of alternating cities, we look forward to our next London 2019 Charity Ball which will be held on the 14th of June. Ann Swain, APSCo CEO
The evening was a triumph and raising over £21,000 for St Ann’s will make such a difference to our patients and their families. I want to thank the APSCo team who worked so hard to make this happen, and to all of the guests who supported us financially on the night. Support at events like this help us provide care for our patients and their families and together we can truly make a real difference, both now and in the future. Eamonn O’Neal , St Ann's Hospice Chief Executive
