St Ann’s Supporter Tom Taylor along with friends and family raised over £3,000 for St Ann’s Hospice by taking on the Edale Skyline challenge.

The group did the challenge on what would have been Tom’s mum, Elaine’s 70th birthday who was cared for by St Ann’s Hospice.

The Edale Skyline is a popular 20 mile walk located in the Peak District. It ascends over 4,000 feet, and across five summits.

Last year, the group took on the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge, also in aid of St Ann’s Hospice which saw them traverse the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough.

“We wanted to set ourselves another challenge that would test us mentally and physically to raise funds for a wonderful charity that was close to Mum’s heart and helped her tremendously through her illness,” Tom said.

Like the Y3P last year, this challenge is fitting as we needed all the determination, willpower, grit and positive mental attitude mum showed us over the 18 years she fought her illness Tom Taylor, St Ann's Hospice Supporter

Tom’s employers Quest Personal Care Global Ltd vowed to match all the donations made through Tom’s JustGiving page. And at the time of the challenge contributed £1,500.

“All contributions received are greatly appreciated and in memory of the bravest lady I was lucky enough to call Mum,” Tom added.

St Ann’s Hospice are hosting their own Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge similar to Tom’s Edale Skyline challenge. It will take place on Saturday, June 7. If you would like to take part you can find out more information by clicking here.
