What the people at St Ann’s say: Louise Pinney

Louise Pinney, Ward Manager on the Inpatient Unit in Heald Green, is excited about the change to Moya Cole Hospice.

Ward Manager on the Inpatient Unit in Heald Green, Louise Pinney believes that the rebranding of St Ann’s Hospice to Moya Cole Hospice marks “exciting times”.

“I think it is definitely more appropriate that we are going to be named after our founder,” Louise said. “Particularly, once Heald Green moves hospices, we will no longer be on St Ann’s Road.”

We've had groups in our community who feel like they might not be welcome here. Of course, we know that isn’t the case, but I think some people have such a perception of who we are as a hospice based on our name and not on the reality of our care. The name change will make such a huge difference to those who we care for. Louise Pinney, Ward Manager, Heald Green Inpatient Unit

According to Louise, the new branding feels more modern, represents who we are as an organisation, and is a nod to our history.

“I think it’s great. I was all for it the second I heard it. And again, I get people’s reservations and hesitations but we are still going to be doing the exact same work that we’ve always been doing. We are still going to be providing the exact same care.

“There have been questions over how much it’s costing but I can assure that this is absolutely the right time to make this change, with the new build requiring all new signage anyway, and with our plans to further develop our site at Little Hulton,” Louise said.

St Ann’s Hospice announced its intention to rebrand itself as Moya Cole Hospice on Thursday 3rd July 2025. The organisation will officially become Moya Cole Hospice from October 1st 2025 as the new site in Heald Green nears its completion.
