The planning process

Our planning application for our New Hospice in Heald Green, which was submitted to the team at Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council in March 2020, was voted on by elected councillors at their committee on 30^th April 2021, and we are thrilled to announce that they voted 11/1 in favour of the New Hospice.

This excellent result means that we have now been granted planning permission and that is a real cause for celebration.

This is a hugely important moment for the hospice.  As we all know, this is a project which has been in development for more than a decade and is one that is vital to ensure that our organisation can continue to care for patients from across Greater Manchester well into the next half a century and beyond too.

Our team of experts who have been working hard to ensure our plans, the architecture of the building, and the legalities of the project are all in order and ready to progress to the next step once planning was granted. In the coming weeks they will also be working with teams across the hospice to ensure that the plans in place for the new building still meet the needs of our services, and that we can continue to keep our patients and their loved ones at the heart of everything we do.

Subject to funds we hope to start to dig the foundations of the new hospice in the Spring of 2022.
