Meet our executive team
Our executive team is responsible for each of the departments within the hospice.
Rachel McMillan, RGN BA MSC.
Chief Executive
Rachel became Chief Executive of St Ann's in 2020. She began her career as a nurse working in Withington Hospital, and in The Christie Hospital NHS Trust, in a variety of roles, including a Staff Nurse, Senior Staff Nurse, Ward Manager and Senior Nurse/Modern Matron. She also worked at Marie Curie Cancer Care as Nursing Services Manager, before joining St Ann’s as Director of Clinical Services in 2012. She carried on the Director role alongside the position of Deputy Chief Executive, which she took on from 2016, before becoming the hospice's Chief Executive in October 2020.

Emma Dixon
Director of Clinical Services
A registered nurse for more than 20 years Emma has worked in oncology and palliative care for the past 15 years, during which time she has had roles in operational and strategic clinical leadership and management, quality improvement, governance, project management and commissioning. Emma is passionate about hospice care and partnership, collaboration and the co-production of services to achieve the best possible outcomes for patients and their loved ones who are affected by any life-limiting illness.
Dr David Waterman, FRCP.
Medical Director, Consultant in Palliative Medicine & Caldicott Guardian
Dr David Waterman has been a Consultant in Palliative Medicine at St Ann's Hospice since 2005. He became Medical Director in June 2020, and also holds the role of Caldicott Guardian.

Gill Turnpenney, BA (Hons) Chartered MCIPD.
Director of Organisational Development and Support Services
Gill joined St Ann’s in 2013 having previously held HR roles in education, private healthcare and the media. She has also worked as an independent consultant leading TUPE, organisation re-design and culture change projects for charities and education establishments.

Dr Paul Jarvis, MEng MSc PhD
Director of Business Development
Dr Jarvis joined St Ann’s in July 2018 from his role of Business Development Manager at NorthWest EHealth. Paul’s career has combined computer science, public health, medical informatics, clinical research, and business development work for over 15 years.
