Head of Fundraising: Why I love my job

Anne-Marie Wynne, Head of Fundraising, explains why she loves working at St Ann's

By News Team on October 16, 2018

I’ve worked in fundraising for 15 years now – prior to joining St Ann’s I worked at Marie Curie in a variety of fundraising roles. I’ve been aware for a long time of the incredible care and support offered by St Ann’s not only for patients, but for families too, and I know people who were cared for here. The opportunity to be part of this organisation that made a difference to their lives, and to play a role in ensuring that the hospice is here for the future too, really appealed to me.

Without fundraising a lot of the ‘added extras’ that make the hospice a special place wouldn’t exist. We only get around a third of our funds from the NHS and this would cover a very basic service. Fundraising allows us to be unique, to try new things and to give the very best care to our patients.

Working on the hospice sites means that I can see the difference made to people’s lives with the funds that we raise. I love to see patients chatting to their family and friends in the coffee shops, or spending time outside in the sunny weather. The hospice is a place for living, a home away from home where everyone is welcome. It’s a bright, warm and friendly place.

If you’d like to get involved, the best place to find out about all our events and appeals are the fundraising pages on our website. However, if you have another idea or thought please do call us, we’re always happy to talk about fundraising opportunities, point you in the right direction or lend a hand. Anything goes…as long as it’s legal!
