Meet Marie our Everyday Hero
I live locally and every day I support people with life-limiting illnesses

My name is Marie Foster and every day I support people with life-limiting illnesses.
Well over 20 years ago someone came knocking on my door to ask if I wanted to play the St Ann’s lottery, that was the first time I encountered the hospice.
I didn’t know much about the hospice other than it was a local charity, so I felt it would be nice to support them with this small gesture.
Sometime later, I got a phone call, asking if I would like to make a regular donation to the hospice.
So I set up a direct debit to give £5 a month as a regular gift.
It was just a fluke that I ended up giving to the hospice in the first place, I just felt that I wouldn’t miss £5 a month. I know not everyone can afford to give every month, but those who can, should seriously consider giving something to the hospice.
It’s only when you come to St Ann’s and see the care firsthand, that you realise why donations are so important, it’s a phenomenal charity. After witnessing the care through my own eyes, I upped my regular donation. Marie Foster, St Ann's Hospice Supporter and Employee

Even though I didn’t know much about the hospice when I first started giving regularly, I felt good in myself knowing that my money was going to a local charity and a worthy cause, and that I was helping to make a difference to someone’s life.
It’s funny because I never knew that 20 odd years ago, when I heard that first knock on my door, the relationship I would build with St Ann’s over the next two decades.
My relationship with St Ann’s grew so much that I eventually began working for the hospice as their Innovation and Digital Fundraiser six years ago, I still to this day regularly give.
With the ongoing cost of living crisis, the hospice needs donations more than ever. If you can afford to give to the hospice, like I can, no matter how big or small a donation, then you should.
I can afford it, so I regularly give to St Ann’s Hospice.
