Greg’s story

Greg helps us with various fundraising tasks such as bucket collections and delivering flowers.

How did you get into volunteering for the hospice?

I got into volunteering through running and fundraising in memory of my dad who was at St Ann’s in 2016. Also by staying in contact with the hospice, I became aware of the volunteering opportunities that were out there, so I got involved and went from there.

Tell us about what you do in your volunteer role?

Because of my freelance work, I am able to give up time as and when and help with bucket collections at supermarkets, in town centres and my favourite volunteering role is collecting flowers from M&S and taking them to the hospice for the patients and their families to appreciate fresh flowers!

What do you enjoy about volunteering?

I enjoy volunteering because it can be fun, you get to meet people that have a connection with St Ann’s, and there are so many people that do! Also like the flower collection job, you can help bring a smile to patients and their families at a difficult time.

What would you say to anyone thinking about volunteering for the fundraising team?

Do it! There are so many different ways to volunteer, that there will be a way that you can get involved that will suit you!
