Volunteers at Monton charity shop

We have a wide variety of volunteering opportunities available at our shops! We’ve listed the different opportunities available below:

We give full training and support, and we’d be keen to hear from anyone who thinks they might be able to help out.

Retail Assistant Volunteer: You’ll provide excellent customer service at the point of sale. If you’d like to gain cash handling and till operating experience, this is the role for you.

Customer Service Volunteer: You’ll welcome customers to the shop and assist them on the shop floor. You’ll keep the displays looking attractive and fresh. If you enjoy organising and chatting with people, this is the role for you.

Stock Processing Volunteer: You’ll sort through the donations and select and prepare items for sale. You’ll price them up ready for the shop floor. If you have an eye for detail and enjoy hunting for treasure, this is the role for you.

Department Specialist Volunteer: You’ll have knowledge and interest in one of the following areas: books, antiques, vintage, bridal. If you would like to put your hobby or expertise to good use, then this is the role for you.

Maintenance Volunteer: You’ll be able to turn your hand to straightforward maintenance tasks, such as fixing shelves and decorating. You’ll be happy to travel around the area and to work flexibly. If you will pride yourself on helping our shops to look in good shape, then this is the role for you.

Head Office Volunteers: We also have a number of roles in our retail head office, which is based in Edgeley. These include retail admin and van drivers.

We are also looking for volunteers in our expanding online sales department.

Are your skills more digitally focused? We have online stores which are looking for volunteers too! From product photography to optimising online listings and order fulfilment, you could learn and apply skills to help us sell more online. We have stores on platforms including eBay and are always looking for new opportunities!

This role would be ideal for someone looking to gain workplace experience in sales, marketing, online retail, business or stock management.

The role will be flexible based on your skills and interests, but it might involve:

  • Researching a wide variety of items from antiques to video games
  • Effectively marketing items for sale from our online outlets
  • Finding ways to improve the online shopping experience for our customers
