Keira’s story

Keira, aged four, fundraised in memory of her Gogo

Keira Brierley, aged four, fundraised for St Ann’s in memory of her granddad Tony, who she refers to as her Gogo.

Keira, who is from South Manchester, took part in our fundraising event, Parade in the Park with her family, including mum Karly and dad Simon. Keira raised an incredible £1000 in honour of her granddad.

Some of Keira’s earliest memories are visiting her granddad at St Ann’s. Tony, an electrician before working in telecoms, was a patient at the hospice and died of mesothelioma cancer in January 2016, aged 61.

Keira knew her granddad as Gogo and can remember riding on his wheelchair in the hospice when she was 17 months old. St Ann's gave them some quality time together and she remembers it as a fun place. They did things there they couldn't do at home. We couldn't support Tony at home because he needed pain control. Keira is incredible and is really keen to fundraise in his memory.
