We are looking to recruit a sensitive and empathetic individual who will be committed to maintaining a high standard of cleanliness around the hospice. You will need to be willing to support the needs of our residents and have a good understanding of the importance of ensuring a clean and hygienic environment for patients, staff and visitors:

The Role

  • Help in the provision of the Housekeeping function for patients, staff and visitors.
  • Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness for all patients, staff and visitors.
  • Be responsible for the correct use of equipment.
  • Support the housekeeper with implementation of the NHS 2021 National standards in healthcare cleanliness.
  • Comply with the NHS 2021 National standards in healthcare cleanliness.
  • Adhere to infection control and COVID-19 standards.
  • Ensure high use areas are kept clean.
  • Follow the national standards of colour coding and COSHH regulations.
  • Deputise for the housekeeping supervisor when required.
  • Be responsible for accurately completing room completion check sheets.

Requirements

The Housekeeping Assistant will have:

  • Have previous experience in a similar role.
  • Will possess or be willing to develop knowledge to ensure the hospice environment is clean and safe and facilitates the need for patients.
  • Have experience in cleaning methodologies and techniques (Full training will be given).
  • Hold an NVQ in Housekeeping, or equivalent or willingness to work towards.
  • Have basic level of IT skills, with willingness to develop.
  • To cover other duties when required.
  • Be prepared to undertake further training courses as required.
  • Be able to organise their time and prioritise activities.

The Housekeeping Assistant will be able to:

Job summary

To support the work of the Hospice in its provision of specialist palliative care by assisting the catering team to meet the food service aims and objectives.

The Catering Assistant plays a fundamental part in supporting the catering provision by ensuring all requirements for patients, visitors and staff are fully met. The role requires someone who can show sensitivity and empathy as we support our patients and their families whilst in our care.

The Role

  • You’ll be the face of St Ann’s Hospice Catering department, liaising with our patients face to face to understand their food choices and playing an instrumental role in supporting the smooth running of the catering service.
  • Assisting with the day to day running of the hospice catering operation.
  • Liaising directly with patients to help with menu choices.
  • Helping with the preparation and cooking of basic food dishes.
  • Delivering food and any hospitality to patients, visitors and staff.
  • Washing crockery and cutlery in a hygienic manner.
  • Ensuring patient confidentially is kept at all times.
  • Assisting in the daily upkeep of the food management system.

The Person

  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in food preparation.
  • Level 2 food hygiene certificate, or willing to train for one.
  • Empathetic and understanding towards patients and their families in our care.
  • Work well as part of a team in a busy environment.
  • Basic computer skills – data entry, email, word documents

Job summary

We’re looking for a sensitive and empathetic Bank Receptionist to play a fundamental role in delivering a professional reception service to all our patients, staff and visitors.

The Role

The Bank Receptionist will:

  • Provide a courteous, professional and caring first impression of St Ann’s Hospice.
  • Meet and greet patients and visitors into the hospice and deal with enquiries in an efficient, polite and courteous manner providing a caring, considerate service to everyone.
  • Answer telephone queries and take messages where appropriate, transfer calls and direct visitors to the correct location.
  • Work closely with the nursing team announcing patient arrivals.
  • Communicate with all departments regarding visitor arrivals.
  • Safeguard patient and visitor confidentiality at all times including adherence to Data Protect Act following GDPR.
  • Provide information on services and retail products.
  • Ensure good knowledge of the hospice and be able to answer queries or questions as required.
  • Assist other departments as required, work permitting.
  • Complete all required training.

The Person

The Bank Receptionist will have:

  • A general level of education to GCSE or equivalent.
  • A commitment to developing IT and digital skills.
  • Experience of working in a customer service role.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a reception role in a similar environment would be desirable.

The Bank Receptionist will be able to:

  • Appropriately escalate where necessary to the relevant staff members.
  • Ensure our values are following at all times.
  • Ensure all access/entry guidelines are followed by visitors.
  • Assist in an emergency situation following directions from the Nurse in Charge.
