Stockport wedding dress sold across the world!
Over the last eighteen months like many businesses we have been forced to diversify and move online to survive during the pandemic.
One of our charity shops in Stockport was keen to make sure they could provide an online offering for brides searching for their dream wedding dress who were unable to visit shops due to the lockdowns.
The team at the bridal boutique on Great Underbank in Stockport centre shared photos of their range of brand new, designer, preloved, and vintage wedding dresses on a variety of online selling sites like eBay, Vinted and also wedding related online groups.
A lady in Australia saw one of the wedding dresses posted on a Facebook group and got in touch with the shop.
During lockdown our shops had to close so we focussed on our online platforms to sell items, including wedding dresses. We post images of the dresses on different wedding related Facebook groups and we often get interest from all over the UK but this was the furthest afield we have ever sold a dress. A lady called Michele got in touch and we communicated back and forth over length, material, structure of the dress and I sent her lots of pictures. She said she lives in Australia but used to work in Stockport so we said it was like it was meant to be! Her god daughter came to collect the wedding dress from the shop to send over to her. I live in Australia and an image of the wedding dress popped up on my computer when I was on Facebook. I thought it was such a stunning dress and it was perfect for my beach wedding. I am from England and I used to work in Stockport, so it was such a funny coincidence! Also, Stockport is where I met my partner, Roy, so I really loved the idea of it all as I'm a bit of a romancer at heart and I love the nostalgia of where it was being purchased from. I proposed to Roy at a surprise 60th birthday party we had organised for him and the ring was tinsel but he said yes. I just want to say thanks to Christina for the amazing service. The wedding dress sold for £315, which is a fraction of the retail price that the dress would cost elsewhere, whilst also supporting our patients with life-limiting illnesses.
The bridal boutique was relocated from the hospice’s shop on High Street in Cheadle in April, to create more space for the number of dresses available, and meet the increased demand from customers.
As well as hundreds of dresses, the shop also has a range of other bridal accessories, such as hair accessories, bridesmaid outfits and shoes.
The store in Stockport also offers a range of vintage items for sale, as well as a specialist book shop.
