Job Summary

The Role

The Fundraising and Communications Support will:

  • Provide effective and high quality stewardship to our fundraisers and donors
  • Respond to enquiries on time (by phone, electronically or in person) about fundraising and events ensuring that enquiries are dealt with appropriately
  • Acknowledge and thank supporters within agreed timescales and processes
  • Update and help manage our CRM database, logging details on a daily basis including financial information ensuring this is within the data protection guidelines
  • Work with supporters to provide support materials and advice/information for their fundraising events and liaise with them at agreed times.
  • Support the Fundraising Team to help deploy fundraising initiatives and campaigns on time
  • Record and update non-financial information provided by supporters, such as Gift Aid declarations, data protection outputs, in memoriam tributes, legacy pledges and other personal information
  • Assist with the recruitment and management of a team of office volunteers who will increase capacity and enable the office to run smoothly
  • Carry out other duties as may be reasonably requested by Fundraising.
  • Support the Communications and Fundraising teams on the production and fulfilment of internal mailings.
  • Research and log press, blogger and other communication’s contact information and coverage.
  • Supporting the Communications Team with other regular and ad hoc tasks such as print jobs, income trackers, social media updates, managing photo permission forms, supporting organisation of photoshoots and events and assisting with research etc.
  • Supporting the development of an online photo library for the hospice and ongoing maintenance and updating of records on the system.
  • Uploading information to the St Ann’s Hospice website and Staff Hub and carrying out edits as required by the Communications Team.
  • Meet with visitors to the hospice receiving donations in a respectful and professional manner.

Requirements

The Fundraising and Communications Support will have:

  • Experience of working or volunteering in a fundraising environment
  • Working experience or education that demonstrates strong administration and organisational skills alongside ability to meet deadlines.

The Fundraising and Communications Support will be able to:

  • Attend and participate in team meetings as and represent the charity at external events when required
  • Ensure all records are held in compliance with the Data Protection Act, Fundraising Regulator and St Ann’s
  • Meet deadlines as agreed with their line manager. Have demonstrable excellent customer service skills.
  • Be organised and have the ability to work with your initiative

You will need to be willing to support the needs of our residents and have a good understanding of the importance of ensuring a clean and hygienic environment for patients, staff and visitors:

Requirements

  • Wide range of fundraising of experience, either in employment or volunteering
  • Working experience or education that demonstrates excellent communication and administration skills, abilities to meet deadlines, problem solving, managing a multiple stream of workloads and delivering successful results.
  • An understanding of various fundraising regulations including Data Protection, gambling and license laws and the Fundraising Regulator.
  • Experience of building strong, effective relationships.
  • Excellent IT skills, including the use of an organisational database.
  • Confident communication techniques including public speaking, delivering presentations, letter-writing and telephone skills.
  • Excellent team working skills.
  • Organisation skills with a track record of delivering projects on time.
  • A full driving license, with car insured for business use

Major Donor Fundraiser

Location

Hybrid Working, the role is offered hybrid with 3 days a week on site, however due to the nature of the new build campaign it will be expected that the role holder is able to be at the hospice sites in Stockport and Salford as and when the business requires rather than fixed days.

Job summary

St Ann’s Hospice is growing! Currently in the process of building a brand new hospice in Heald Green, we’re looking for someone to nurture and steward our existing donors, and identify and recruit high-value individuals to support St Ann’s Hospice.

This new role will build on the strengths of our existing Major Gifts fundraising programme to provide a significant contribution to our new build target and secure income for the future too.

The Role

  • Researching, developing and managing a pipeline of HNWI in the hospice delivery area,
  • Confidentially asking for gifts of five and six figures to support the work of the hospice
  • Developing and writing persuasive funding proposals, propositions, cases for support and progress reports for donors.
  • Supporting the fundraising development board to ensure appropriate membership and enable them to engage their networks in support of St Ann’s Hospice
  • Monitoring Major Gift income and expenditure budgets, to analyse and produce monthly and quarterly management information.

The Person

  • Have a degree level education or equivalent experience of research, proposal writing and business development.
  • Have experience of increasing income through building a portfolio of major donors including asking for and securing gifts over £50,000.
  • Demonstrate experience of building strong relationships with a variety of key stakeholders for the generation of income.
  • Have worked to a budget with a solid plan to achieve the target, including an assessment of risk and mitigating actions.
  • Work flexibly to meet the needs of donors, and have access to a car with full driving licence.
